Discover Arla - a farmer-owned dairy company

As Arla farmers, we are dependent on nature and recognise our role in relation to climate change. That’s why we are taking steps to develop how we farm and produce dairy for you and your family.

We work with our farmer owners and other partners on specific initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support biodiversity. Learn more about the initiatives, their scope and our progress below.

Rewarding farmers for climate-related actions

From August 2023, Arla farmers who implement activities related to greenhouse gas emissions can be rewarded through the FarmAhead™ Incentive.

Arla has an SBTi-validated target to reduce absolute Scope 3 FLAG greenhouse gas emissions by 30.3 per cent by 2030 from a 2020 base year. Read more about the target and how we plan to achieve it in our transition plan.

Rewarding farmers for implementing these activities is part of our approach to supporting actions on farm.

Based on Arla’s current milk volume, up to EUR 500 million may be distributed to farmer owners through the FarmAhead Incentive Model. Payments depend on the activities registered under the model.
