Besides being Europe's number one, Arla Foods is currently also the world's second largest dairy group. This is revealed in a recent review conducted by the Danish Dairy Board which ranks Dairy Farmers of America as the world's largest dairy group measured in terms of milk received. With 14.8 billion kg milk per year, the group is twice the size of Arla Foods which, according to the review, receives 7.1 billion kg. The gap, however, between second and third ranking is somewhat smaller: the French group Lactalis receives 6.6 billion kg while the Dutch Friesland Coberco is fourth with 5.9 billion. New Zealand's NZDG is fifth with 5.5 billion.
Arla Foods is an international dairy company owned by more than 8,400 farmers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Arla Foods is one of the leading players in the international dairy arena with well-known brands like Arla®, Lurpak®, Puck® and Castello®. Arla Foods is focused on providing good dairy nourishment from sustainable farming and operations and is also the world's largest manufacturer of organic dairy products.
