Construction work began on Arla Foods’ new extension in Visby in Sweden last week. Totalling SEK 98 million, the construction programme comprises a new production line, a spray tower and a new warehouse.
On completion, the new facility will double its existing milk intake capacity to 160 million kg milk. The current workforce of 5 is expected to increase by 7 people.
Sited on the island of Gotland, the Visby plant has significant importance to the local community, particularly since Arla Foods’ other plant on the island is scheduled to close in July 2003.
