Staff at Hellevad Dairy were Monday, on November 11, informed that the dairy will be closed from June 1, 2003. The decision was taken by Arla Foods’ Supervisory Board on November 8.
In March Hellevad Co-operative Dairy’s owners voted in favour of a merger with Arla Foods effective from October 1, 2002. Since then the dairy has been part of the Product Division’s firm cheese section.
Hellevad’s cheese production, 3,500 tons per annum, will be transferred to three other dairies, Nr. Vium (Esrom), Hjørring (Danbo)and Branderup (kefalotyri).
The dairy’s butter production was recently transferred to Holstebro Butter Dairy.
As far as possible, Hellevad Dairy’s 33 employees will be offered jobs elsewhere in the Arla Foods Group.
