French retail giant targets Norway

The world’s second largest retail chain, France’s Carrefour, is entering the Norwegian retail sector.
The Group, which has an annual turnover of approximately DKK 500 billion, has signed a franchise agreement with Norway’s largest retailer, NorgesGruppen. whose 1,900 stores account for 34 per cent of the Norwegian market.
Under the agreement, a number of NorgesGruppen’s outlets will sell Carrefour products. The shops will be marketed under the name “Champion,” the name of one of Carrefour’s chains.
