Hellevad Dairy, which merged with Arla Foods in October 2002, ceased production on May 28.
A month after the merger, Hellevad’s Lurpak production was transferred to Holstebro Dairy and now its cheese production is relocating to Branderup, Nr. Vium and Hjørring. In contrast to most other redundant dairies, the Hellevad buildings will not remain empty for long. The dairy has been sold to a local businessman who intends to turn it into office accommodation.
The new owner will take possession of the buildings on October 1. The sales price has not been disclosed.
