Arla Foods’ contract suppliers in the UK are being offered the opportunity to become part of one single supplier association.
This week, Arla Foods UK plc is sending a letter to 1,250 British milk suppliers offering them membership of an overall supplier association under the name, Arla Milk Partnership.
The offer concerns the approx. 850 milk producers of Express Milk Partnership who were previously contracted to Express Dairies as well as the 400 producers who supply milk to Arla Foods plc under direct contracts.
Together, these milk suppliers provide around 1.1 billion kg milk, or just under half Arla Foods UK plc’s total of 2.3 billion kg. The balance will, as before, come from various supplier associations.
Suppliers from Express Milk Partnership are also working towards closer relations with Arla Foods UK plc in other ways. According to the Financial Times, Express Milk Partnership decided last week to buy shares in Arla Foods UK plc through the Partnership’s investment fund.
After the news, Arla Foods UK plc’s shares rose by 12%.
